April 2012 Book Selection

The April Literacy group is now closed.

To "officially" sign up to participate in April's discussion and activities...please join the Wiki and post on the Discussion Board which book(s) you will be reading and if you will need the 6.5 Staff Development hours and/or 8 LPDC hours by 3:00 PM Friday, April 20.
April's book(s), discussion, and activities are for all grade levels.
The April book selection(s) is book of participants' choice from EITHERthe 2011 YALSA Award for Excellence in Nonfiction for Young AdultsORALL 3 2011 Sibert Informational Medal and Honor books.If you choose to read all 3 of the Sibert Informational books, you will need to create lesson plans for all 3 books.
Participants are repsonsible for obtaining a copy of the book(s).

Participants will be expected to:

• Read the assigned book(s) for the month.
• Respond to the discussion questions.
• Respons to other participants answers in a separate post.
• Create a lesson/unit using the book(s).
• Meet together for 1 hour to further discuss the book and share lessons/units.

Discussions and lesson plans need to be posted by 9:00 PM Sunday, April 29.
We will meet to discuss the books on Monday, April 30 from 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM in the Timken Library. Please enter the Timken Commons from the 4th St. parking lot at Door 2. The Library is on the second floor up the big, blue staircase.

1. Save your lesson plan as a word document.
2. Name your lesson plan the title of the book - your name (Example: The Dark Game - Mindy)
3. Email Mindy your lesson at engler_m@ccsdistrict.org
